Liverpool reportedly wants to bring Manchester City midfielder James Milner on a free transfer when negotiating a new contract with the Citizens deadlock.

The 28-year-old is one of the players who got a new contract offer from management City, but he could escape to a rival club that decided not to continue his career at the Etihad Stadium.

Reported by The Express, to get Milner, the Reds have to compete with Arsenal, who is also touted to recruit midfielder.

Milner imported City in 2010 with the transfer of £ 26 million, which also includes involving the exchange of Stephen Ireland to Aston Villa.
